Quality Assurance

Transnuclear applies its NRC-approved Quality Assurance programs to all safety-related work. Transnuclear’s program controls to the licensing, design, procurement, fabrication and delivery of each solution. The subcontractor’s Quality Assurance Programs are used (under the provisions of Transnuclear’s program for procurement) to control fabrication activities.

The Transnuclear Quality Assurance Program meets the requirements of 10CFR50 appendix B, ASME Code, ANSI/ASME NQA-1, 10CFR72, Subpart G and 10CFR71, Subpart H.

The Transnuclear team is committed to providing products and services that meet or exceed standards for safety and reliability.

Suppliers and Subcontractors Qualification

Oversight of suppliers is the responsibility of the Quality Assurance Supervisor of Supplier Oversight, who coordinates and oversees vendor oversight activities.

Transnuclear has already qualified numerous potential subcontractors and other material suppliers through technical evaluations and quality assurance audits. Audits of suppliers and site activities are also performed to verify compliance with all aspects of the Transnuclear Quality Assurance Program to determine the effectiveness of the program.

Transnuclear applies its Quality Assurance program requirements to Subcontractors in a graded fashion. This applies to all Quality Assurance activities associated with Subcontractors, from Subcontractor qualification to Quality Assurance records

Subcontractors for Category “A” components must have an established Quality Assurance program consistent with 10CFR71 Subpart H and/or 10CFR72 Subpart G requirements. This Quality Assurance program is reviewed and its implementation is evaluated by Quality Assurance audit to qualify the Subcontractor to provide Category “A” components.

Subtler Subcontractors for Category “B” and “C” components need not be qualified in this manner. Instead, only the applicable elements of the Transnuclear Quality Assurance program (e.g., QA inspection, and nonconformance reporting/resolution) need be applied to such Subcontractors.
