TN-68 Metal Cask
The TN-68 is the most modern bare fuel storage and transport cask in the industry. The TN-68 is a vertical storage system which is converted to a transport by the addition of impact limiters. The cask has self-contained steel and borated resin shielding; no concrete shielding is required. A bolted cover and double metal seal make for easy closure operations; no welding is required. Borated aluminum plates and stainless steel tubes form the basket assembly. Once loaded with fuel, the cask is drained, vacuum dried, and backfilled with helium to provide an inert environment for the fuel during storage. The TN-68 is handled by single failure proof trunnions.
